1967 Shelby Cobra 427

Manufacturer: John's Custom Fabrication - Coos Bay, OR

This is a hand made reproduction of the original Shelby 427 Cobra. All fabrication, manufacturer and assembly were done in house by JCF in Coos Bay, Oregon for myself. JCF builds one of the finest Cobra's in the world and as a side note John was one of the first manufacturers of the 289 ("also know as slab-side) style Cobra's.

One of the most unique features of this car is the 427 side-oiled engine. Most reproductions you will find have the 302 V8 or the 351 V8. There are not many with a big block engine. While most originals actually had a 428 V8 (a cost savings to Shelby) I felt the inclusion of the side-oiler would be a unique treatment.

The other special feature is the lengthened foot box design for a taller driver. Since I am 6' 4" I did not fit into any replica's. While it is still a snug fit you can drive this comfortably as well as adjustments can be made to fit a shorter driver.

The transmission is a original style 4 speed top loader, wide ratio.

The frame is a boxed steel design, updating & strengthening the original tubular design by Shelby.

The rear end is a narrowed 9" Ford.

The front end is a modified Mustang II with tubular A-arms and the suspension is Alden Eagle coil over shocks. The rear end is supported by a four-link with Panhard bar and Alden Eagle shocks.

The last two nice features of this car that I will mention is first the 17 gallon fuel tank. This car runs on premium fuel and because of the particular engine build will get surprising good economy on the highway (as long as you keep your foot out of it!) The other feature is the ability of the cooling system to keep this engine cool, even during the hottest days.

This car is in excellent condition. It does have a few small rock chips on the front end and a small deformity in the fiberglass on the rear fender. It has never been raced or auto-crossed or in any accidents.

Why am I selling? I have had my fun and now it is time to move on.
